Appalachian Sales Group was founded in 1985.

ASG is a manufacturers’ representative serving the HVAC industry with a three-tiered focus; Design Teams, HVAC Wholesale Distributors & Plan / Spec Agents, and Mechanical Contractors.

We focus on specifications with the architectural and engineering community through design support, technical assistance, and product information.

We establish our customers, the HVAC Wholesale Distributor and Plan/Spec Agents, as a competent, accessible, and informed source for our products. The mechanical contractor is targeted so our products become a preferred and trusted vendor in the field.

We utilize Information Technology as a means of doing business which has led to an investment of time and assets improving order entry, information retrieval and storage, job quoting and order tracking.

What We Do

ASG strives to be on the forefront of technology with professional CRM tools, quoting software, and cloud servers. Finally, limiting our product lines allows us to better serve our manufacturer partners.

  • May 1985

    Jerry Shive formed Shive & Associates, covering NC, SC, GA, & EAST TN

  • 1992

    Hired 1st employee 

  • 1994

    Acquired a rep firm to expand into MD and VA

  • 1994

    Added 2 employees to cover NC, SC, Western TN,  and AL

  • 1998

    Hired Gordon Ramseur to cover GA, Eastern TN; Developed inside support team

  • 1998

    First office location on Augusta Street & began stocking parts for resale

  • 1999

    Transitioned name from Shive & Associates to Appalachian Sales Group to accommodate growth

  • 2000

    Andrew Shive joined ASG as an inside support person for job quotes, customer service, and technical support

  • 2003

    Hired engineering support team & opened the Greenville, SC, warehouse

  • 2004

    Andrew Shive promoted to manage SC and NC

  • 2006

    Matt Eskridge joined ASG to manage VA/MD; Expanded inside customer service team

  • 2021

    Transition of ownership from Jerry Shive to Matt Eskridge, Gordon Ramseur, and Andrew Shive

  • 2023

    ASG expands to the Florida market.
